Its common for the installation instructions for Morrowind mods to suggest unzipping directly into the Data Files directory. Its a lot less scary if you are modding into a file other than the data directory in your install. Remember, the vanilla assets are in BSA files. Some mods change things like textures or meshes, and thats much harder to uninstall correctly, particularly if you have overwritten those with another mods.
